A large percentage of UK households still do not recycle enough and it can be confusing to figure out what can and cannot be recycled. A very useful website to find out more about what and where you can recycle is www.recycleforscotland.com
If your item is in good condition and could be used again by someone else, please use the National Re-use phone line on 08000 665 820.
Items such as sofas, chairs, beds, tables and bikes that are in good condition could be re-used. For sofas and chairs the necessary fire label must be intact. You can also donate online at www.recycleforscotland.com. The items will be collected free by local organisations who will ensure the item stays in use rather than going to waste.
We understand that not everyone can take their recycling to a local facility or perhaps the waste cannot be recycled or re-used. In these circumstances you should speak to your Local Council who will assist.
With the festive period now upon us, there is likely to be an increase in the amount of waste and bulky items. Most notably in January when Christmas trees will be disposed of.
There are many places which will recycle your unwanted tree and many Councils will offer a free uplift service and will recycle the tree. Please check with your Local Council for further details.
