Fire Safety Update - Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982

Following the Grenfell Fire incident in London, the Scottish Government is working in association with several working parties to review and potentially improve the existing regulations.

Life Property Management, Managing Director, David Reid is currently involved in one of the working parties whose main aim is ensuring that the factoring industry and proprietors are fairly considered during any future decisions which are made.   We are eager to learn more about the Grenfell fire incident to ensure that practical measures are taken to avoid any future tragedies. 

We have recently received documentation from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service which clearly outlines Proprietor duties in relation to Section 93 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act, which exists to ensure not only the safety of residents but the safe egress in case fire occurs, which all homeowners have a duty to adhere to. 

Along with Scottish Fire & Rescue, we are fully committed to ensuring that our developments are free from fire, therefore dangerous practices such as storing furniture, appliances and combustible materials within common areas must cease, to ensure that all residents can escape from the building in the event of a fire.
